To update URLs of existing services consumed in a web map, use the
ArcGIS Online Assistant application. This application uses the ArcGIS REST API to provide several functionalities for working with content in ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS.

ArcGIS Online Assistant is an unsupported application.

Navigate to the ArcGIS Online Assistant login page.
Select the ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS instance to log in.
The ArcGIS Online Assistant application requires permission to access account information. Click Approve to allow the application access to the account.
Click the 'I want to...' drop-down arrow.
Select 'Update the URLs of Services in a Web Map'.
In the right pane of the window, select the folder containing the web map.
Click the name of the desired web map. A list of content consumed by the web map displays.
In the Operational Layers section, update the URL for the layer. Copy and paste the updated service URL in the URL field, and click Update.
Once the URL is updated, a 'Success!' message displays.
